"Happiness is always looking at the glass half full and realizing there's still room to add vodka"
— Amanda Lear
In the vibrant landscape of street art, KASHINK stands out with a unique approach. For over a decade, she has enriched the streets with bold works, defying aesthetic conventions and gender norms. Her internationally recognized art serves as a signature hallmark in the world of graffiti.
The turning point in her career came in 2013, during her noted participation in Wynwood Walls and the collective exhibition "Women on the Walls" in Miami, on the sidelines of Art Basel. This decisive moment opened doors for her in the United States, Canada, Europe, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Thailand, Nepal, Australia, and Latin America, where her brush has left indelible marks.
KASHINK is not limited to the urban canvas; she also distinguishes herself through a singular personal approach: for ten years, she has worn a drawn-on mustache every day, like eyeliner strokes, an artistic gesture that doubles as a daily performance and a sociological experiment. Through this simple feature, she invites dialogue on identity, social gender constructs, and the refusal of conformity.
Her commitment is also expressed in academic and intellectual frameworks, through appearances at prestigious conferences such as TEDx, or at renowned universities. Since 2020, she has been exploring immersive performances, combining experimental music and video creation, continuing her exploration of artistic boundaries.
KASHINK, a self-taught artist, prefers creative impulsiveness over preparatory sketches. Her multidisciplinary approach embraces a variety of mediums, from installation to ceramics, photography to video. A resident of Paris, her work is nourished by a palette influenced by figures such as Fernando Botero and Gilbert and George, as well as by Mexican graphic design, her Slavic and Hispanic roots, Pop Art, and narrative illustration. Masks, universal symbols of metamorphosis and mystery, occupy a prominent place in her inspiration.
Her commitment goes beyond artistic expression; KASHINK campaigns for issues of sexual identity and gender equality. Her works, populated by colorful characters, Mexican inspiration, skeletons, and multi-eyed women and men, resonate in international exhibitions, affirming her message of openness and diversity.
In 2015, the year LE CARTEL was founded, KASHINK collaborated with the brand for the first time by developing a mural in Montreal, which remains iconic. This synergy was renewed in 2024 during the inauguration of the first Parisian boutique and the collective textile exhibition "Paris is a Party".
