"You can discover how to do something, and then do it, or do something, and then discover what you have done."
— Isamu Noguchi
Célia Genevois is a designer artist who delves into exploring the connections between digital creation and traditional media. Her creative process generally begins with the development of abstract and energetic sketches, which are then transposed to the computer. These designs finally come to life, printed or metamorphosed onto acrylic canvas.
Her work finds its essence in the events that mark her daily life, seeking to capture a moment, an emotion, to give them form and a face. Célia often draws inspiration from observing bodies and their movements, opting for extreme simplification while flirting with abstraction.
The fluidity and transformation of anatomy in contemporary dancers particularly fascinate her, where each posture evokes a new silhouette, and each bend suggests a novel composition. The quest for their deconstruction thus becomes an infinite field of experimentation. Music also plays a key role in her creative process, accompanying her through successive sketches until the finished work. Célia enjoys associating her creations with a specific song when she unveils them, in order to better convey the energy of her works.
Célia collaborates for the first time with LE CARTEL in 2024 as part of the collective t-shirt exhibition "Paris est une fête".
