"There are flowers everywhere for those who want to see them."
— Henri Matisse
Agathe Singer is a French artist and illustrator based in Paris, whose work is deeply marked by the themes of femininity, beauty, and nature.
Her gouache creations are distinguished by their boldness and colorful palette. Deeply influenced by figures such as Matisse, Henri Rousseau, or Frida Kahlo, she aspires to capture in her portraits an essence of vitality, power, and joy, while infusing them with a palpable serenity.
Agathe also enjoys navigating the heart of a world populated by fantastic flora and fauna, composing, through each piece, an imaginary garden bathed in vivid colors and populated by shapes that are both simple and naive.
Paris holds a special place in her creations, the silhouette of its blue rooftops inspiring her to sketch urban landscapes imbued with poetry and reverie. The Eiffel Tower, visible from her window, appears regularly in her work as a familiar leitmotif.
For Agathe, composition and color are the pillars of her art. The selection of her chromatic palette plays a crucial role in her creative process, as she often enjoys limiting her choices to a few shades, which she considers a stimulating challenge. Once the colors are laid out using simple shapes and sharp contrasts, she indulges in the game of patterns and details, such as adding floating whiskers to a cat to animate the space and breathe life into the scene.
Agathe collaborated for the first time with LE CARTEL in 2024 as part of the collective t-shirt exhibition “PARIS EST UNE FÊTE”.
